Alco Screen is a rapid, highly sensitive method to detect the presence of alcohol in saliva and provide an approximation of relative blood alcohol level. It is well established that the concentration of alcohol in saliva is very close to that of the blood, making saliva the preferred specimen for alcohol testing. This allows for greater detection sensitivity than the breathalyzer testing method. Alco Screen is a very simple, one-step test requiring no instrumentation, calibration or special training to be used effectively. It only takes 2 minutes to administer and is convenient enough to be used any time, any place.
Our alcohol tests are easy to use and very accurate. When alcohol is consumed, it enters the bloodstream fairly quickly. From there, it is carried throughout the body where it interacts with various systems and leaves behind traces in the form of metabolites. These indicators of alcohol consumption are detectable in an individual’s saliva for about 12 to 24 hours after alcohol has been ingested. After 24 hours, alcohol is typically sufficiently metabolized and is no longer detectable in the saliva. This makes saliva alcohol testing a highly accurate way to test for very recent alcohol use.
